Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the com.zsoftco.ztrack application (the
ztrack app) available in the Google Play Store.
Location Permission
The primary purpose of the ztrack app is to allow you to record a GNSS
(Global Navigation Satellite System, e.g., GPS) track of your activity, for
example, hiking, running, sailing on the bay, etc.
To acheive this functionality, the ztrack app requests location permission
via the Android permission system. Specifically, the ztrack app requests two
permissions:
- Fine location: This permission allows the ztrack app to create an accurate
(sometimes within just a few meters) track of your activity. You do not need to
grant this permission, but the ztrack app works best if you do.
- If you deny this permisison, the ztrack app still works, but with reduced
functionality. You can still import and view a track recorded by the ztrack app
or some other application (e.g., MyTracks), but you will not be able to record
a new track.
- If you allow this permission (either "Ask every time" or "Allow only while
using the app"), the ztrack app will be able to record a track. The ztrack app
requests location access only for the purpose of recording your track. The
ztrack app will never upload or share your location data.
- Background location: This is the "Allow all the time" location permission.
Granting this permission allows the ztrack app to continue to record your tack
when Android considers the ztrack app to be in the background (e.g., you
navigate to another application, or turn the screen off). You do not need to
grant this permission, but the ztrack app works best if you do.
- If you deny this permission, the ztrack app still works, but Android may
prevent the ztrack app from getting updated location data if you navigate to
another application or turn the screen off. In this case, your track may not
properly reflect your activity. If you deny this permission, to get an accurate
track, you'll need to keep your screen on and the ztrack app must be displayed
on the screen.
- If you allow this permission, the ztrack app is able to record the track
even if you navigate to another application or turn your screen off. The ztrack
app requests background location access only for the purpose of background
recording. The ztrack app will never upload or share your location data.
Location Data Access and Usage
The locaton data requested by the ztrack app includes date and time,
latitude, longitude, altitude, GNSS accuracy, speed, and heading.
Location data is personal and sensivite information, and the ztrack app
accesses location data only when you explicity enable it. The ztrack app lets
you know when it has access to location data by providing a persistent
notification. You can use this notification to stop recording or turn off
location access.
The ztrack app uses location data only to record your track and implement
functionality assocated with recording, such as auto-start, auto-stop, geofence
creation, geofency entry, and geofence exit.
The ztrack app stores this location data only on your device. The ztrack app
does not upload or share the location data. This data is yours, and you have
complete control over it.
